Considering Albert Einstein's background as an Ashkenazi Jew, although the family is reported as non-observant Ashkenazi Jews, his reported plagiarism should not be taken lightly. Einstein did express a rare humble streak in 1952 when he declined the position of President of Israel offered to him by Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion via Israel's ambassador in DC. In his response Einstein wrote that he was "at once saddened and ashamed" that he could not accept the offer. Ashamed - interesting word from a man like him.
